She holds a BA DipEd and MA in Psychology and is currently studying for a professional doctorate in Organisation Behaviour. She has worked in the early childhood field for 17 years and has developed and implemented several early childhood curricula including flexible delivery of courses and produced various early childhood videos which have won awards such as the 1995 Victorian Innovative Training Product and a 1992 ATOM.
Maryla has a strong interest in multiculturalism producing culturally relevant posters and children's books, as well as women's issues, advocating specifically for women from non-English speaking backgrounds.
