Call for papers – articles from ISPCAN 2026
Papers from the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (ISPCAN) Melbourne Congress, 24–26 August 2026.
The ISPCAN Scientific Committee and Children Australia invite submissions of original articles by ISPCAN 2026 presenters based on presentations at the ISPCAN Melbourne Congress, 24–26 August 2026.
Hosted in partnership with the Australian Childhood Foundation, the 2026 ISPCAN Congress focuses on cutting-edge research and practice innovations.
The overarching congress theme is ‘Transforming Approaches to Safety and Healing’.
Articles can be from any of the following congress core sub-themes:
- Out-of-home care & youth justice: Transforming these systems to achieve better outcomes for children and young people.
- Preventing abuse, neglect & exploitation: Addressing risks within families, communities, and institutions.
- Culture, norms & diversity: Navigating safety, risk, and healing across different cultural backgrounds.
- Public health approaches: Strengthening child protection via primary prevention methods.
- Centring children: Focusing on family and gender-based violence, keeping the child’s perspective at the forefront.
- Digital safety: Rethinking and improving child safety and protection in the digital age.
Articles addressing the Youth or First Nations streams are especially welcome.
In line with Children Australia scope, articles should address issues of relevance to Australian children and young people.
Article types can include:
- Original Research
- Expert by Experience
- Review
- Practice or Policy Report
- Commentary

Authors of accepted abstracts will be asked to submit full papers for consideration by the end of October 2026.
