Wendy O’Brien is a Social Worker with 20 years experience in public welfare, including the fields of Child Abuse Prevention, Family Support, Protective Services, Community Services, Foster Care, Mental Health and Corrective Services. As Director of the Children’s Protection Society, Wendy established the Alys Key Family Care service in West Heidelberg, for parents experiencing severe difficulty rearing their children. This service incorporated a multi-disciplinary team approach to families, alongside various group programmes at the centre. Having worked with the most powerless and disadvantaged members of the community, Wendy’s special interest is in creating and developing programmes that empower and meet the needs of this vulnerable group.
