Abstract
In dealing with alcohol abuse, a focus on the family is of importance. Conversely, in dealing with problematic children or families there is good reason to recognise the possibility of alcohol abuse. Awareness of the possible adaptiveness of alcohol in the family may assist the professional in helping the family to move.
